The Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament (CBS) was founded in 1862 as  part of the Catholic Revival in the Church of England. Its aim was to  be, first of all, a confraternity (brotherhood) of men and women  praying and working for a greater devotion to Jesus Christ in the  Eucharist and in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood.

The objects of the Society are: to love and honour Mary. to spread devotion to her in reparation for past neglect and misunderstanding and in the cause of Christian Unity

The Society is an ecclesial body, led by a Council of Bishops. The purposes of the Society are: to promote and maintain catholic teaching and practice within the  Church of England; to provide episcopal oversight to which churches,  institutions and individuals will freely submit themselves.

Forward in Faith teaches the catholic faith and the catholic doctrine of the Sacraments. Forward in Faith is the membership organization which supports and finances the work of  The Society under the patronage of S. Wilfrid and S. Hilda. The Society  provides ministry, sacraments and oversight which we can receive with  confidence.

Membership of the Church Union brings us into a direct  relationship with the many heroes of the Catholic Revival in the Church  of England, which started with the Oxford Movement in the 1830's and  1840's. In those days, Catholic Christians in this land were mocked and  humiliated and subjected to violence.

The Federation of Catholic Priests

The Federation of Catholic Priests was  founded in 1917 to foster priestly vocation within the Church of  England. Today it continues to seek to encourage mutual support in  propagating, maintaining and defending Catholic doctrine and practice within a traditional understanding of priesthood.

The Glastonbury Pilgrimage

The Glastonbury Pilgrimage in 2019 will be on Sunday 14th July. The first pilgrimage to Glastonbury in modern times was in 1895 to celebrate the beatification of Abbot  Richard Whiting, on the anniversary of his martyrdom 1539 when thousands  of pilgrims from all over the country arrived by train and climbed the  Tor where Mass was said.

The Guild of All Souls is one of the Catholic Societies of the Church of England. It was founded in 1873 to encourage prayer for the repose of the souls of the faithful departed and to provide burial furniture in an age where  the burial of the dead was frequently conducted without any reverence.

It is  entirely a society of lay people but welcomes Bishops, Priests and  Deacons as Associate Members and non-servers as Supporter members.
